PHD (2023–2026)

  • Dissertation: Multilingual Signage in Urban Spaces of Macedonia: A Comparative Study of the Cities Bitola, Kumanovo, and Tetovo.
    The dissertation analyzes the representation of multilingualism through public signage in three sociolinguistically diverse cities of Macedonia. The aim is to understand how language policy, socioeconomic conditions, and residential segregation influence the Linguistic Landscapes of these cities. The research question examines the impact of these factors on multilingual signage and its significance for multilingualism in public space. The main goal of this work is to develop a deep understanding of the role that multilingualism plays in shaping public space in Bitola, Kumanovo, and Tetovo. It aims to highlight how linguistic diversity is made visible through signage and which social, political, and economic factors influence these practices.
