Iris Bauer is postdoc research fellow within Slavic literary and cultural studies (focus: West Slavic studies) at the University of Leipzig. In this academic year she is deputizing Dr. habil. Anja Burghardt at the Institute of Slavic Philology at the LMU Munich. Iris Bauer studied West Slavic studies at the universities of Leipzig, Prague, Wrocław and Warsaw. For her master thesis she received the Georg R. Schroubek Reward of the Schroubek-Fond Eastern Europe in 2016. After studies she was research fellow in the project „Cultural Icons of East Central Europe. The afterlife of the Age of Romanticism“ at Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) in Leipzig and then PhD scholar at Aleksander Brückner Center for Polish Studies (Halle/Jena). In 2022 she obtained her doctorate with the thesis „Female bombers, killers and rebels – Transgression in the Arena of Heteronormativity. Maria Janion’s Transgressions and the Transgressive Heroines in Sylwia Chtunik’s Kieszkonkowy atlas kobiet (2008)“.
